Week 4 of grape picking/packing

No I'm not dead, i'm just busy packing grapes! It's been a busy four weeks. work starts at 6am and normally ends at 3pm.

We got a lot of rain two weeks ago which meant the boys had the day off, while we girls continued packing what the boys had picked the day before. the rain hurt the crop pretty badly so since then our work in the shed has got harder because we have to cut out all the rotten bits... yuck, lots of maggots and other not nice things.

The other workers organised a little suprise birthday party for me on saturday. I got a cake and even presents! I am now the proud owner of a garden gnome! I've always wanted one :D Thomas is not so pleased ;)

The work here is almost over, maybe one or two more weeks to go. So we've started to look for work elsewhere. A couple working with us had some work lined up, starting next week, but they're going home so we simply called up and took their spot! so we're finishing with the grapes this friday, and moving on to the next job. We have about 1000 km to cover over the weekend, then we'll start packing melons on Monday. The work should last us until Christmas or maybe even New Years.

Then maybe after all this work we can start doing some visiting of this huge country! But in the meantime, we're still having a good time. Since we finish work at 3 pm, we've got all the afternoon to relax, go to town for the food shopping if necessary. This weekend we went to the pool in town which was a nice treat cos it is hoooooooot here!
